Reduce Licenses in Google Workspace

Method 1: If You Are on a Flexible Plan (Pay-per-user, Monthly Billing)

You can remove unused licenses anytime.

Steps to Reduce Licenses in Google Workspace

1. Sign in to Google Admin Console

   • Go to admin.google.com.

   • Sign in with a Super Admin account.

2. Go to Billing Section

   • Click on Billing from the left panel.

   • Select Your Google Workspace Subscription.

3. Reduce User Licenses

   • Click Manage Subscription.

   • Under Users and Licenses, reduce the number of licenses.

   • Confirm the changes.

4. Save Changes

   • The reduction will take effect immediately, and your next billing cycle will reflect the updated license count.

Method 2: If You Are on an Annual Plan (Commitment-Based Plan)

• Google does NOT allow reducing licenses until renewal.

• You can only remove licenses at the end of the billing cycle.

• To adjust, contact Google Support or your reseller for options.

Method 3: Remove Users to Free Up Licenses

If Google does not allow direct reduction, you can:

1. Delete Unused Accounts (Users > Delete Users).

2. Suspend Accounts (Suspended users do not count towards active licenses in a flexible plan).
